Daydream Nation

Sonic Youth

1988

"Teenage Riot" is a pretty fantastic opener and sets the tone for a pretty dense album, but unfortunately the rest of the album never quite lives up to the opening track's brillance.  Daydream Nation is so dense and layered that you kind of get lost somewhere in the middle of the album, in a daydream-like state (pun intended).  This album certainly has high artistic merit, and it's got a distinct and unique vibe...it gets better with repeated listens too...may grow to enjoy it more, but for now, I appreciate it more than I actually enjoy it.
