Concert Chronicles

Concert Chronicles

I've been to a fair amount of concerts in my day, and somewhat remarkably, I still have a fairly good memory of most of them.

From the moment I went to see my first live show way back in 1999, I've been hooked on live music and the cathartic experience it provides.  Granted my early concert going experiences were essentially all heavy shows (hence the catharsis) but as a disaffected teenager growing up in West Texas, these concerts provided an intensely invigorating outlet that my angst-ridden psyche desperately needed at the time.  My musical taste was more varied than these early concerts might suggest, but living where I did, my concert options were limited. And I'm not going to act like I wasn't a huge fan of alternative-metal at the time, and still am to a degree, so suffice to say I enjoyed the chaos and intensity of those shows thoroughly.

Anyway, I look back at some of those early concerts in TX most fondly, even though the quality of live shows I attended increased dramatically once I moved to San Francisco and eventually Chicago.

Yes, here I have documented, to the best of my recollection, my experiences of all the shows I have ever been to, grouped by the year in which they occurred.  The performances of course come first and foremost, but there are also more than a few "experiences" and antidotes to help give these reviews a bit more of a narrative flavor for your reading pleasure.

So let's take a trip down memory lane shall we?

Hope you enjoy.
