Land of Rape and Honey

Ministry

1988

Ministry's most important/influential album…pure industrial, good variety…certainly bleak…to me this is the purest industrial album I know of…that doesn't suck…

Houses of the Mole

Ministry

2004

Ministry can be bleakly intense and droning music to listen to, so you have to be in the mood for it, but House of the Mole sounds like someone lit a fire under their ass and they were partying like it was 1992 again, raging against Bush (albeit a new Bush) and reaking some serious industrial-metal havoc.  This album is heavy, punchy, and fairly creative for Ministry.  It's a good Ministry record, but that doesn't mean it has a high overall repeat listening appeal.

Greatest Fits

Ministry

2001

Ministry's individual albums can be kind of a chore to listen to (unless you're in a particularly bleak mood), but this Greatest Hits package cuts through the murk and gives you most of their best stuff in one convenient package…best of the bleak from industrial-metal's finest.
